Villahermosa, Friday, August 26

We woke up this morning in our air-conditioned hotel room and decided we hadn’t been sweating enough.  So we hiked from our hotel to Parque Museo La Venta – a combination (sad) zoo and museum where the famous Olmec heads are displayed.

The walk took us along the shore of Lago Ilusiones.  We were surprised at  the abundant wildlife. After seeing the cocodrilos (crocodiles) we were not surprised at the complete absence of rental boats.

Even though the temp was in the mid-80’s and the humidity in the upper 70’s, the walk along the shaded lago was bearable.  The mosquitoes in the parque were not.
