Mexico City – Day 5

SUNDAY, July 17

We took in a performance of Mexico’s famed Ballet Folklorico in the Palacio de Bellas Artes. We’ve been by the building several times, but today was the first time we got inside.  It’s quite a treat, lots of marble and Art Deco.  On the second floor, above the theatre are murals by Rivera, Orozco, Siqueiros and others.

On the way back to our hotel we stopped for lunch at Casa Churra

Pozole for lunchfor pozole and churros. Not bad, but I wouldn’t make a special trip for either.

Tomorrow we head to the “bohemian” district.

You can read about the controversy over Rivera’s mural here and here.
