The Pacific Coast Highway – aka the PCH – runs through every town from Malibu to San Clemente. If you want to see what “pro growth” on steep hillsides looks like then have a look at Laguna Beach.
We drove to the border crossing at Tecate. Walked across and got our tourist visas good for 180 days for $25/person. There is no evidence from road signs on CA 94 that there is an international border at the end of the road. The only sign that the border is nearby is a Border Patrol checkpoint.
We’re using our campsite’s water to try to get rid of the chlorine smell and taste in the fresh water tank. We used chlorine to sterilize the tank but mistakenly used the 8.5% bleach instead of the recommended 5.5% bleach. The antidote, according the the manufacturer, is a vinegar/water solution. As of this writing it seems to have worked.
Tomorrow we drive across the border and buy our Temporary Import Permit for the truck. Next destination is Ensenada. Viva Mexico!
