The getaway day of all getaway days

Our adventure was delayed slightly due to a last minute snafu with the camper – which Chris fixed with a hammer.  Don’t mess with a farm girl.

We stopped for breakfast at Whale City Bakery (recommended) in Davenport.

Once through Santa Cruz the fog burned off and we had a glorious drive down the coast on Hwy 1.  California showed us her best in a futile attempt to get us to stay.

Sorry, but no pictures.  The camera and the computer decided not to talk to each other today.

A big muchas gracias to everyone who wished us well on our journey.

  1. Hi Chris, so glad to have found your blog. You look very well prepared!
I was in Ushuaia and Punta Arenas in about 1985. I arrived by ship from Antarctica. I am so excited about your trip…just the kind of travel I would have enjoyed –someday I will tell you about our drive to Alaska with 4 kids under 6. I’ll be thinking of you, and looking forward to hearing about your experiences.
